Promoting Nursing Home Quality Improvement: Overview

Background

IFAS' nursing home quality improvement agenda addresses three essential components of quality improvement:

  • Increasing the supply of empirically validated clinical protocols and caregiving practices.
  • Changing the culture of the nursing home to improve clinical care and quality of life for residents and better working conditions for nursing home staff.
  • Preparing the nursing home setting to accept and adopt quality improvement changes.

Accomplishments

Evaluated the Wellspring model of nursing home quality improvement in collaboration with researchers from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and Texas A&M University.
